Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Diabetes Hacker ("the App," "we," "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the App. Diabetes Hacker is owned and operated by Viral Builders.
1. Information We Collect
Information stored on your device
Diabetes Hacker stores the following information locally on your device using Apple's on-device storage (SwiftData, the iOS Keychain):
- Meal log entries you create — meal notes, optional photos, insulin units, blood glucose readings at time of log, and timestamps
- Your settings preferences
- If you connect a CGM service (Dexcom Share or Abbott LibreLinkUp / FreeStyle Libre): your username / email and password for that service, stored encrypted in the iOS Keychain
This information never leaves your device unless you explicitly send it (via the Share / Export feature) or unless the App connects to your CGM service on your behalf to fetch glucose readings.
Information sent to your CGM service
If you choose to connect a CGM service, the App sends your credentials directly to that service's servers to authenticate and fetch your real-time blood glucose readings:
- Dexcom Share — governed by Dexcom's Privacy Policy
- Abbott LibreLinkUp / FreeStyle Libre — governed by Abbott's Privacy Notice
Viral Builders does not see, store on our servers, or have any access to your CGM credentials or your glucose data. Communication happens directly between your device and the CGM provider.
Information you explicitly share
If you tap the Share / Export button, you generate a CSV file of your meal entries and choose where to send it. Where you send that file is your decision — we have no involvement.
Pre-launch email signups (this website)
If you submit your email address on our website (iansidman.com/diabetes-hacker) to be notified when the App launches, we collect and store that email address through a third-party email service to send you a one-time launch announcement. We do not sell or share this email address. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link included in any email we send, or by writing to viralbuildersllc@gmail.com to request removal.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide the meal-logging and glucose-tracking functionality
- To display your history within the App
- To fetch glucose readings from your connected CGM service (Dexcom Share or Abbott LibreLinkUp) on your behalf
We do not sell your personal information. We do not have a server that collects your data. We do not use advertising SDKs.
3. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
4. Your Rights
Because all data stays on your device, deleting the App permanently removes all locally-stored information. You can disconnect your CGM service at any time inside the App, which clears your stored credentials from the Keychain.
5. Data Security
Information on your device is protected by iOS's standard sandboxing and encryption mechanisms. Credentials are stored in the iOS Keychain, which is hardware-encrypted on modern iPhones. Network traffic to your CGM service (Dexcom or Abbott) is transmitted over HTTPS.
6. Medical Disclaimer
Diabetes Hacker is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. The App is a logging and tracking tool. Always work with a qualified healthcare professional for diabetes management decisions.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be reflected by a new Effective Date at the top of this document.
